Happy Pi Day!
May, as usual, is going to be busy in France with the Cannes Film Festival from May 13th until May 24th, then the Monaco Grand Prix will take place from May 23rd until May 25th. Highly advise getting your schedules to your handlers to arrange slots and parking ASAP. The Rugby Sevens Tournament will be held in Hong Kong from March 28th to March 30th at Kai Tak Stadium. Once again it is highly advisable to get your schedule to your fbo as the airport will likely be very busy this weekend. Expect significant reroutes in the Midwest later on this afternoon into this evening due to convective thunderstorms with a similar situation likely over the Southeast US on Saturday and along the East Coast on Sunday where delays are likely to be excessive.
Critical weather day is in effect until 12z Sunday due to wildfire ops in the Southern Plains and for widespread severe weather over the Central US. A G2 geomagnetic storm is currently underway through tonight, then no geomagnetic storms are forecast through Sunday.
Tropical outlook
TC Jude, 90 miles ESE of Europa Island will continue to move to the SE at 10 knots and slowly intensify over the next couple of days as it brushes by Southern Madagascar over the next 24 hours.
CONUS severe weather outlook – extremely active period will likely extend into Saturday with a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms later on today into the overnight hours for the Mid MS valley and the lower Ohio valley. This outbreak will extend in the SE USA on Saturday. All types of severe weather are likely on both days.
Europe outlook – surface high pressure will dominate much of the weather over the continent through Sunday. Next upper level low and surface low pressure will likely affect Portugal and Spain on Monday with periods of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms.
North Atlantic jet stream forecast – split flow pattern is likely to continue into the weekend due to the presence of the upper-level ridge from the UK to Iceland and a broad upper-level trough from Eastern Baffin Island to the Azores.
