Europe outlook – storm Claudia, 300 miles to the SSW of Shannon, Ireland, continues to bring periods of moderate rain over much of the UK and Ireland today, mainly to the North of the warm front which is draped over the extreme Southern UK. On Saturday, another fairly strong area of low pressure will bring high impact weather to Portugal and much of Western Spain with periods of heavy rain and gusty winds in association with a slow-moving cold front. On Sunday, high pressure will build into the UK from the NW while a series of frontal systems and upper-level troughs will bring a few showers and periods of snow to the higher elevations of Northern Italy and Switzerland. A quick moving low-pressure area will move through the North Sea on Wednesday, ushering in much colder air along with the possibility of frozen precipitation over the UK. More details on this early next week.
North Atlantic jet stream analysis – for Sunday the pattern remains unsettled with an upper-level low over Quebec, along with an upper-level trough over France which will result in light winds for the West bound flights.
