Aviation Weather April 11, 2025

Good Friday Morning,

Expect significant delays into AGS today due to the Masters Golf Tournament until 22z this afternoon. Current average delays are 33 minutes, with a maximum delay of 133 minutes. Normal weekend TFR exists at PBI. Another TFR then affects OPF and MIA from Saturday night through early Sunday morning. To make it even more complicated the PBI TFR then goes into effect once again from late Saturday night through Sunday evening. Major rocket launch that was set to affect the Gander and Shanwick FIRS has been postponed.

Critical weather days / geomagnetic storm outlook – non applicable through Sunday.

Tropical cyclone outlook – invest area 96P, 230 miles North of Darwin has a high potential of development over the next day or so. Latest computer models take it in a general South Westerly direction over the next 72 hours keeping it generally offshore the Kimberley coast. However, it should be noted that a tropical storm watch does remain in effect for this region.

CONUS severe weather outlook – relatively quiet period continues through the weekend.

Europe outlook – a few severe thunderstorms are possible today over portions of Portugal and Southern Spain due to the presence of the upper low/trough which will move very slowly to the East over the next 72 hours. Daytime showers and thunderstorms are possible through Sunday over this region moving into Southeastern France by Sunday afternoon. Expect ATC delays over this portion of Europe for at least the next 48 to 60 hours. Indications are that the pattern will become much more active over a larger portion of the continent by early next week.

North Atlantic jet stream forecast – on Sunday, a broad upper-level low South of Iceland along with the upper-level trough over Spain will allow for general NW jet to continue with the core from Newfoundland to Morocco. Expect little overall change to the jet stream pattern through early next week.
