Aviation Weather April 4, 2025

Good Friday Morning,

There is a 24-hour Greek strike planned on April 9th. This will likely have a significant impact on airports in Greece. Notam A1100/25 has been published. Overflights will not be affected. It goes from 21z on 08 APR until 21z on 09 APR. Not seeing any indications of any Russian rocket launches early next week which would affect the NOPACS. The UN Ocean conference will take place in Nice, France from June 9th through the 13th. Expect the normal congestion and parking issues. Special procedures will be in place from April 6-14 for the Master Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

Critical weather day / geomagnetic storm outlook – Critical weather days will remain in effect through Sunday morning for excessive rainfall and flooding from the Lower MS valley to the OH valley. No space weather advisories are in effect through the weekend.

Tropical cyclone outlook – typically a quiet time of year and this pattern continues.

CONUS severe weather outlook – for Saturday – an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms will exist from Western TN to extreme NE TX in association with a mid-level trough and jet streak and a fairly strong cold front for Early April. This area will move East by Sunday with a slight risk of severe thunderstorms from Northern GA to the FL panhandle. Next week looks to be much quieter.

Europe outlook – for the most part the weather over the continent remains unremarkable through early next week. Upper-level ridge will prevail with strong high pressure remain nearly stationary over much of the region.

North Atlantic jet stream forecast – on Sunday with the upper-level ridge over the UK and an upper level low to the West of the Azores with primary jet will reside from East TX to Newfoundland to North Africa. Westbound flights will continue to experience very light winds. Expect little overall change to this pattern early next week.
