Keep Up With What’s New

Aviation Weather August 25, 2025

Good Monday Morning,

Starship super heavy rocket launch was scrubbed last night from Boca Chica. Still a go for tonight with significant airspace restrictions in the Gulf of Mexico beginning at 2330z until 0134z. A cold and stormy pattern is forecasted for SE Australia/Tasmania, with snow possible in the higher terrain of SE Australia. Significant cross winds are possible at YSSY with gusty West winds.

Critical weather days / geomagnetic storm outlook – no critical weather days through Wednesday. Space weather remains quiet.

Tropical cyclone outlook – TS Fernand, 360 miles ENE of Bermuda, will not impact any land masses, and will become post tropical by Wednesday. TS Juliette, 700 miles SSW of the Southern tip of Baja, CA, will not impact any land masses. Typhoon Kajiki, 150 miles South of Hanoi, Vietnam, has made landfall, and will dissipate over the next 24 hours over the mountainous terrain of Laos.

CONUS severe weather outlook – a relatively quiet period is expected for the next several days. Marginal severe weather risks are possible over the Southern and central High Plains over the weekend.

Europe outlook – today and tomorrow look fairly quiet with an upper-level ridge in place from Spain to Denmark. A cold front on Wednesday from Germany to central Spain will help kick off showers and isolated daytime thunderstorms over portions of central Europe along with the UK. Thursday looks to be much more active with a deep upper-level low over Ireland along with a deep surface low near Belfast will help induce fairly good coverage of showers and thunderstorms to much of Western Europe. With the Labor Day holiday approaching I would expect some significant enroute delays.
