Aviation Weather March 10, 2025

Good Monday Morning!

YBBN airport operations appears to be back up and running as normal as tropical cyclone Alfred has now dissipated. Main runway at LKPR (Prague, Czech Republic) 06/24, will be closed from 31 March through 15 August for major works. Restricted GA hours continue at both MRLB and MROC. Might be advised to check notams carefully. No critical weather days nor any geomagnetic storms are forecast through Wednesday.

Tropical outlook

Final warning has been issued on TC Jude, 60 miles SW of Nacala, Mozambique. This system will have to be watched carefully over the next couple of days because there is a good possibility it may regenerate over the Mozambique channel. TC Ivone, 1400 miles East of Port Louis, will not affect any land masses as it is expected to track in a general WSW to West direction over the next several days.

CONUS severe weather outlook – most active period will likely be later on this week, Friday and Saturday where a regional outbreak of severe thunderstorms is possible in association with a very strong jet streak over portions of the ArkLaTex to the lower MS valley area.

Europe outlook – an upper level low over Spain will result in widespread daytime showers, some convective in nature, with small hail possible due to very low freezing levels. A cold front will pass through the UK tonight, ushering in somewhat cooler weather, with some locations near freezing during the overnight hours.

North Atlantic jet stream forecast – by midweek an upper level low over Hudson Bay and an upper-level ridge South of Iceland will allow for very light winds generally North of 50N. Primary jet will remain well to the South, from Eastern TX to the Canaries. West bound flights will be able to take advantage of these lighter winds resulting in very good enroute times.
