Aviation Weather March 2, 2026

Good Monday Morning,

PACD, Cold Bay AK as issued a notam indicating no JET A except with 90 min PPR until 03/10. Plan accordingly and might not want to use this airport as and ETP for a few weeks. EGPF, Glasgow, Scotland will close their only runway nightly until 03/20 except over the weekends. Notam I1492/26 applies. Tel Aviv and the associated FIR remain closed until at least 03/06 at 10z. Traffic over the Middle East is basically being routed over Saudi Arabia or to the North over Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Critical weather days / geomagnetic storm outlook – none through Wednesday.

CONUS severe weather outlook – Wednesday through Saturday look have a least a slight chance of severe thunderstorms as we enter the first week of metrological spring.  Slight risk exists on Wednesday from the Western Ozarks to the Southern Plains in association with a mid-level shortwave trough and a slow-moving cold front.

Tropical weather outlook – three suspect areas exist from Ne Australia to North Central Australia to NW Australia with a low probability of development over the next 24 hours. All three of these areas will have be monitored this week as the latest EURO does show some development occurring.

Europe outlook – next couple of days (through Wednesday) look very quiet over the continent with very little in the way of sensible weather occurring with surface high pressure prevailing for the most part along with upper-level ridging. By Thursday an upper level low along with weak surface low pressure will help initiate a few showers and gusty winds to portions of Spain and Portugal.

North Atlantic Jet stream – an upper level low near YFB along with another upper level low near Gibraltar will result in a general Westerly flow, becoming Southwesterly from the Azores to Iceland on Wednesday. This pattern will change very little later on this week.
