Good Friday Morning,
Very heavy business aviation traffic can be expected from April 5th through April 13th at Augusta, GA in association with the Masters golf tournament. The biggest rush will be on Thursday through Sunday. Runway 08/26 will be closed for aircraft parking. Runway 17/35 will be the only runway open. Traffic MGMT Initiatives will be likely at AGS/AIK/DNL/and HQU airports. LIMC/Milan Malpensa remains off limits to GA traffic until May 9th at 22z. LIML, Milan Linate remains a great alternate choice. Already have delays going through ZMA airspace this morning for South Bound departures due to volume. Surprisingly quiet weather for the most part across the CONUS through Monday.
Critical weather days – none through the weekend.
CONUS severe weather outlook – no areas outlooked through at least Monday. An up-tick in severe weather is likely leading up to the Easter Holiday.
Tropical weather outlook – we are finally about to close the chapter on long lived TC Narelle, currently located 80 miles SSW of Learmonth, Australia. A rapid subtropical transition has become and will be fully complete in 21 hours. It will pass well to the East of Geraldton and Perth with little impacts expected on those aerodromes. A wind gust to 104 knots was recorded at YPLM yesterday around 22z with sustained winds of 75 knots.
Europe outlook – on Saturday, very strong high pressure (1041mb) will be located 500 miles SW of Shannon, Ireland. A cold front will extend from surface low pressure near Stockholm to Western Germany to Northern Spain with lower elevation rain showers and higher elevation snow showers along the front. Very heavy snow will also continue over the Balkans in association with a cold upper level low. On Sunday, the cold upper-level low will be positioned over Western Turkey with widespread showers and higher elevation snows over this region. Surface high pressure will remain nearly stationary to the NW of Portugal. The middle of next week looks interesting with the latest computer models indicating the possible of a significant surface cyclone developing to the SE of Italy with possible high impacts including very strong winds along with heavy mountain snow and low elevation heavy rain.
North Atlantic Jet stream – on Sunday afternoon, the upper-level low year YFB (along with very warm temps aloft) and the upper-level ridge to the NE of the Azores will enforce the buckling of the jet. Expect little change in this pattern into early next week.
