Aviation Weather November 22, 2024
Good Friday Morning!
Expect delays into LAS and surrounding airports today and tomorrow due to the F1 race. No critical weather days are in effect through this weekend and no geomagnetic storms are forecast. Russian rocket firings will take place again early next week in the NOPACS. Reroute accordingly to avoid this large, restricted area.
Tropical outlook
West Pacific / Indian Ocean basin – no storms that will impact any land masses.
Atlantic – East Pacific – no suspect areas.
US Severe thunderstorm weather outlook – no significant severe weather episodes are likely for the next seven days.
Europe outlook – very powerful storm Bert (935mb) will be located 450 miles NW of Shannon, Ireland at 12z Saturday, and 300 miles NW of Shannon at 12z Sunday. Expect heavy snow in Scotland on Saturday along with very gusty winds and heavy rains to portions of Ireland and the UK through Sunday. ATC delays can be expected through Sunday. A very strong upper-level trough and cold front will result in Thunderstorms over Turkey on Saturday, followed by heavy snow over much of Central and Eastern Turkey on Saturday and Sunday. Some of this snow will be enhanced by the cold air aloft moving over the Black Sea resulting in some significant accumulations, mainly East of Istanbul.
North Atlantic jet stream forecast – upper-level low over the Canadian Maritimes and South of Iceland will help ensure the primary jet will be displaced South of 50N.
