BOS PPR requirement will likely continue until the end of October at least. Runways 09/27 and 15L/33R are closed. LIMJ, Genoa, Italy will have its annual boat show from Sept 18-23, so expect increased traffic during this time period. Be on the alert for nightly runway closures at PBI, between Tuesday and Friday nights from 0330z until 1100z. Runways 10L/28R and 14/32 are closed leaving only the very short runway open for operations. Tower at Lisbon, LPPT, will be closed overnight for repairs between 0015 and 0345z until the 06th of September.
Critical weather days / geomagnetic storm outlook – none through Friday.
Tropical cyclone outlook – invest area 95W, 300 miles ESE of Kadena, Japan is in a highly favorable region for development. Latest computer models develop this suspect area into a weak tropical cyclone and move it towards Southern Japan over the next 24 hours with heavy rain likely in Tokyo on Friday. Hurricane Lorena, 105 miles SSW of Cabo San Lucas, is moving NW at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Not seeing any notams for airport closures at mmsd/mmsl. Several tropical storm warnings and watches cover much of Central and Southern Baja CA. A tropical wave in the Eastern Atlantic will have to be watched next week, however the latest ensemble models take this possible TC to the North of the Islands.
CONUS severe weather outlook – a slight risk exists today from Central KS to Western MO. On Thursday a strong cold front over the Eastern US will help promote a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms (afternoon/early evening) from Lake Ontario to Eastern TN.
Europe outlook – yellow alerts continue through Thursday for portions of the UK due to heavy rain and thunderstorms associated with a deep surface low over Scotland that will move very quickly to the NE tonight and Thursday. Another weaker area of low pressure will pass through the Southern UK on Thursday with less wind and thunderstorm activity. A less active weather pattern is anticipated on Friday over much of the continent with a weaker upper-level trough over Central Europe along with high pressure over France.
Long range tropical outlook – next few weeks not surprisingly have a least a 20-40 percent chance of TC development over all the basins.
