Critical weather days / geomagnetic storm outlook – none through Sunday.

Tropical cyclone outlook – TS Peipah, currently located just to the East of Tokyo will quickly move East and not impact any land masses going forward. Invest area 97W, 375 miles SE of Hong Kong has a medium chance of developing over the next 18-24 hours. Current modeling indicates it may approach the VHHH/VMMC areas on Monday bringing heavy rain and briefly gusty winds. Hurricane Kiko, will rapidly weaken later on this weekend has it moves over cooler waters and a much drier upper air environment as it approaches Eastern Hawaii. Invest area AL91, in the Eastern tropical Atlantic, will have to be watched early next week for possible impacts to the Lesser Antilles.

CONUS severe weather outlook – a slight risk exists today from WV to Central TN along a slow-moving cold front. Only a marginal risk exists on Saturday from Eastern New England to the Mid-Atlantic states.

Europe outlook – overall, a relatively quiet day is in store for much of Europe on Saturday with high pressure over central Germany. By mid-day Sunday, high pressure will prevail over much of the central and Eastern Europe as deep low pressure resides 300 miles NW of Shannon Ireland. A cold front will push through central Europe on Monday touching off showers and isolated daytime thunderstorms.

North Atlantic jet stream analysis – on Sunday – an upper-level trough from Western Iceland to just NW of Portugal will allow for a non-zonal flow to predominate.  Looking ahead to next week a more zonal pattern will take over, allowing for good wind factors on the East bound crossers.
