Numerous TFR’s and screening procedures remain in effect for the nearby airports. Hungarian Grand Prix runs from July 24th until July 26th with most GA aircraft using LHBP (Budapest). Per ATS, CAAC has lifted its ban on BizAV operations in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Only one night of parking is allowed to make quick turns. However, the restrictions on overflying the region are still in effect and OVF shall still keep at least 300km out of Beijing airspace. A challenging day is expected in the NE and Mid Atlantic airspace on Saturday due to expected severe thunderstorms along the cold front and the upper-level trough passage.
No critical weather days are in effect. No geomagnetic storms are expected through Sunday.
CONUS severe weather outlook – slight risk of severe thunderstorms exists from tomorrow afternoon through the evening hours over much of the NE and Mid Atlantic States. On Sunday this region will push off to the SE and may affect portions of NC.
Tropical weather outlook – a couple of suspect areas exists in the Atlantic basin but are of no concern at this time.
Europe outlook – per estofex, severe thunderstorms are likely today from SE France to the Alpine region to SW Hungary for very large hail and severe wind gusts along a cold front. On Saturday afternoon daytime build ups with scattered thunderstorms likely from the Alpine region to NE Europe while strong high-pressure ridges into the UK. Little overall change is anticipated for Sunday with strong high pressure centered 400 miles WNW of Shannon, Ireland.
Canadian smoke model forecast – it appears at this time as if the NE and Mid-Atlantic states will get a break from the smoke this weekend and should not affect the FIFA world cup final on Sunday afternoon.
