Good Wednesday Morning,
ILS runway 25R at EBBR will be undergoing maintenance until 07/17/26. A capacity decrease is expected. Still monitoring for a potential TFR at both PBI and MIA over the weekend. Nothing formal has been issued yet. Cannes Film Festival will be held from 12-23 May. Special procedures will be in effect at both LFML and LFMD. Expect delays at East TX airports on Friday in association with a cold front and an upper level trough moving through the region which will help initiate showers and embedded thunderstorms.
Critical weather days/space Weather alerts – none through Friday.
CONUS severe weather outlook – all in all for late April and early May the overall pattern does not support widespread severe thunderstorms. Marginal risks exist over portions of the Southern US through at least Friday.
Tropical weather outlook – quiet period continues. Over the next few weeks, expect a moderate chance of development along 10N from 180E to 150E, well to the East of the Philippines.
Europe outlook – estofex has issued a level one alert for much of Central Spain today for the possibility of severe thunderstorms with large hail. Another area is outlined for the Atlas Mountains for large hail and severe wind gusts. An upper-level low approaching the region is helping provide the instability. On Thursday the center of the upper-level ridge will be over Denmark while and upper-level trough will be located from Ukraine to near Bari, Italy and this will help create a few showers. A majority of the continent will be precipitation free. On Friday, the core of the ridge will be from Southern Sweden to Southern France while the upper-level trough will migrate to the East and will be located from the Northern Black Sea to Sicily. An upper-level trough approaching Portugal and Spain on Saturday will help initiate showers and thunderstorms to this region Saturday afternoon.
North Atlantic Jet stream – very unusual pattern continues across the region with extremely light winds in the core from 40N to 60N on Friday. I do not see any dramatic changes through the first weekend of May.
