Good Friday Morning!

On May 12th, expect another national strike in Belgium affecting EBBR and EBCI. Delays are likely at LGAV, Athens, due to ATC capacity for the foreseeable future. Bottle necks are also expected in the Balearic Islands especially during the peak hours Friday through Sunday. Delays also continue in the Canary Islands. TFR’s remain in effect for OCF/PBI and the Miami area this weekend. Primary runway 16/34 will be closed from 1330z on 05/05 until 2230z on 05/06. As a result, the airport will be closed during this time period. Expect delays at both iah/hou today due to multiple rounds of showers and embedded thunderstorms.

Kentucky derby forecast – 23z Saturday – our in-house product is showing temperatures in the 57-degree range with NW winds at 10 mph. Relative humidity from 30 to 35 percent. Partly to mostly cloudy skies. No precipitation.

Critical weather days/space Weather alerts – none through Sunday.

CONUS severe weather outlook – on Saturday, a slight risk for severe thunderstorms will be possible across the Northern one third of Florida in association with the upper-level trough and cold front.

Tropical weather outlook – all remains quiet.

Europe outlook – on Sunday weak low pressure will be centered near the London area with a cold front extending from the low to Central France to Eastern Spain.  A few showers and isolated daytime thunderstorms are likely over this region. Surface low pressure area over Western Turkey in association with a cold upper-level low will help promote widespread heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms from Eastern Greece to Turkey along with gusty winds over Southeastern Greece on the back side of this low. On Monday this upper-level low will move slowly East towards central Turkey with widespread showers and higher elevation snows possible. Look for scattered daytime showers and isolated thunderstorms over much of Northern Spain into France in association with an upper-level trough in the Bay of Biscay.

North Atlantic Jet stream – pattern is slowly returning to normal on Sunday with a general light Westerly flow expected.
