With a month to go before the mid term elections expect several presidential TFR’s to be in place between now and election day. VMMC, Macau International Airport, will undertake nightly closure of runway 16/34 until Oct of 2029. AIP Supplement 04/26 has further details. They cannot be used as a technical stop, diversions or emergencies during the closure periods. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Univ of AL and GA football game Saturday night in TCL based on the present movement of TS Isaias. Expect Gulf reroutes on Friday into Friday night with the inland routes looking great at this time. F1 race will take place in Austin the weekend of October 22nd through the 25th. PPR will be required.

A Critical weather day is in effect through at least Friday in support of TC operations in the central Gulf Coast. A G2 (moderate) alert has been issued for Friday in terms of space weather.

CONUS severe weather outlook – a slight risk on Saturday is likely over the NE Gulf in association with landfalling Isaias. Otherwise a quiet period is expected for the next seven days.

Tropical weather outlook – TS Isaias, 580 miles SW of the Mouth of the MS river is moving ENE at 8 mph. Hurricane watches will likely be issued later on this afternoon for portions of the Northern Gulf. Landfall is likely early Saturday morning in the vicinity of Mobile AL, then it will quickly accelerate to the North and slowly weaken. Please see the latest bulletins from NHC for further details. West Pacific remains active however no land masses appear to be impacted.

Europe outlook – on Thursday, surface low pressure near Goteborg with a cold front extending from the low to extreme NW Italy to Southern Spain, will have promote showers along the front with the possibility of snow in the Swiss Alps. Freezing level will be near 7,500 feet by late afternoon Thursday at LSZS. Deep low pressure will also be present just to the SE of Nice, France also which will create very gusty winds at LFML (in excess of 40 knots). On Friday, deep low pressure will be over Iceland, with a strong cold front situated through the central UK with periods of showers along the front.

North Atlantic jet stream outlook – a very strong zonal flow will be present with the core of the jet stream from Lake Superior to Ireland with velocities in excess of 150 knots to the South of Nova Scotia.
