Important Regional Airport and Parking Considerations During 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy (February 6th-22nd, 2026)

(November 2025)

From 6–22 February 2026, Italy will host the Winter Olympic Games across several venues including Milan, Cortina dAmpezzo, Bormio, Livigno, Val di Fiemme, Anterselva, and Verona.

Event Venues:

  • Milan: Ice hockey, figure skating, short track speed skating, and the Opening Ceremony at San Siro.
  • Cortina d’Ampezzo: Women’s alpine skiing events.
  • Bormio & Livigno: Men’s alpine skiing, as well as freestyle skiing and snowboarding events.
  • Val di Fiemme (Tesero & Predazzo): Cross-country skiing and ski jumping.
  • Anterselva: Biathlon events.
  • Verona: Closing Ceremony.

Airport & Parking Overview:

Due to the limited parking capacity at Italian airports—particularly during major events—securing parking will be especially difficult at airports located closest to the event venues:

  • Bergamo (LIME) offers 17 self-maneuvering parking stands dedicated to General Aviation, located directly in front of the GAT. The GAT includes a newly designed VIP lounge for both passengers and crew. Limited landside car parking is also available.
  • Milano Malpensa (LIMC) and Milano Linate (LIML) both offer parking stands; however, obtaining parking at Linate has recently become more challenging. Additionally, please note that fees at both airports significantly increased in July 2025.
  • Brescia (LIPO) provides a more limited capacity with only 2–3 parking stands. The airport is a key hub for cargo and postal operations, which restricts the availability of General Aviation parking.
  • Bolzano (LIPB), Treviso (LIPH), Venice (LIPZ), Trieste (LIPQ), and Verona (LIPX) each have limited parking stand availability.
  • Verona does have a large, currently unused military apron. The airport authorities will likely have discussions with the military to release this area for use during the event; however, at this stage, the likelihood of approval appears low.
  • St. Moritz (LSZS) and Innsbruck (LOWI) also offer very limited parking capacity.

Alternative airports recommended for parking reposition:

  • Ancona (LIPY)
  • Cuneo (LIMZ)
  • Forli (LIPK)
  • Genova (LIMJ)
  • Rimini (LIPR)
  • Turin (LIMF)

Important Points to Note:

Slot & PPR Management: Olympic airspace restrictions will apply, and Slots/PPRs will be required at airports that do not typically enforce them.

Helicopter Transfers: Direct helicopter transfers will be available to several venue locations, ensuring fast, seamless access while maximizing passenger comfort.

Chauffeured Vehicles: A wide range of luxury sedans, SUVs, and other vehicle options will be available, all operated by professional, multilingual drivers.

In Summary:

This large-scale event will add further complexity to a region that is already highly active and operationally challenging. We strongly encourage early planning to secure availability and avoid potential disruptions. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
