UK Electronic Travel Authorizations Now Required for the UK

Most visa free travelers to the UK are now required to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), and all visa free travelers will require one by April.

U.S. nationals, and most other non-Europeans are required to have an ETA for travel to the UK as of January 8, 2025.  You can check if it is available for your nationality (Check when you can get an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)).

Most European nationalities will be able to apply starting March 5, 2025, and they will require it for travel as of April 2, 2025.

One of Flight Pro International’s wonderful clients, Brett Beasley, provided some excellent feedback on the ETA process.  After downloading the app to his phone, it took him less than three minutes to input the necessary data, which includes passport information and a photo, and submit payment.  Within two minutes after that, he received an email confirming his ETA approval.

You can download the UK ETA app on Google Play or from the Apple® App Store® by searching key words “UK ETA”.  Alternately, you can apply online at https://apply-for-an-eta.homeoffice.gov.uk/how-to-apply.
