Slot Coordination During Implementation of New 4-FLIGHT System

Since early 2024, Flight Pro International (FPI) has been keeping an eye on the impact that the new 4-FLIGHT System is having on slot coordination at Paris-Le Bourget Airport (LFPB). New updates regarding this system and how the implementation may affect your flight management are noted below:

• Phase 1 (November 5th, 2024 through December 10th, 2024) — Use of the new 4-FLIGHT system; slots are in place
• Phase 1bis (December 11th, 2024 through January 6th, 2025) — Temporary return to the legacy system
• Phase 2 (starting January 7th, 2025) — Continuation of the 4-FLIGHT system use; slot system will be in placed through February 11th, 2025

During these periods, LFPB flights will need slots booked and a PPR number issued for arrivals and departures, similar to the procedure during the Olympics.

Originally, it was thought that getting a slot would not be an issue as we are in a typically low traffic period (November/December). However, after only one week of the phases in place, we’ve received feedback that there have been many issues with the quantity of slots allocated, as that number is not known. For several days, the quantity of possible arrivals/departures are very limited, if not impossible.

FBOs can attempt to secure slots up to the last minute (in case of flight cancellation), however nothing is guaranteed. If slots are not available, quick turns may be possible in Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (LFPG/CDG, which is also slot coordinated).

We advise all FPI clients with travel to LFPB to plan the trip as soon as possible in order to secure slots and receive the best slots available.
