Athens International Airport (LGAV) Winter 2026/27 Capacity Restrictions and Slot Requirements

(November 2026)

Operators planning flights to Athens International Airport (LGAV) should anticipate significant capacity constraints due to ongoing runway maintenance throughout the winter season.

Runway 03L/21R is scheduled to close from November 5th through December 18th, 2026, leaving the airport operating with a single runway during this period. Additional runway restrictions are also planned for the remainder of the winter season.

Our local handling partner has advised that daytime airport slot availability is expected to be limited or potentially unavailable on the following dates:

  • November: 2nd, 5th–6th, 8th–9th, 11th–13th, 15th–16th, 20th, 22nd–23rd, 27th, and 29th–30th
  • December: 4th, 6th–7th, 11th, 14th, and 18th

LGAV will remain a Level 3, fully coordinated airport throughout the Winter 2026/27 season. As a result, all Operators must obtain confirmed airport slots before operating.

Additionally, effective October 25th, 2026, flight plan suspension procedures will apply to general and business aviation. This makes obtaining and maintaining confirmed airport slots particularly important. Flights operating outside their allocated slots may be subject to regulatory sanctions.

Operators are strongly encouraged to:

  • Submit airport slot requests as early as possible.
  • Maintain flexibility when planning arrival and departure schedules.
  • Closely monitor slot availability and any additional runway restrictions.
  • Immediately coordinate all schedule changes with our Greece Operations team.

Advance coordination and proactive scheduling will be essential to minimizing operational disruptions and ensuring compliance with LGAV slot requirements throughout the winter season.

Flight Pro International (FPI) will share any additional runway restriction updates as soon as our Greece Operations team advises. As always, FPI is available to assist Operators as needed in navigating around the LGAV capacity restrictions and slot requirements. Contact us today!
