Good Wednesday Morning!

KSDL, Scottsdale AZ will be closed to fixed-wing aircraft from October 25th until October 31st due to runway work on runway 03/21. The airport will reopen on Saturday Oct 31st at noon. I know it is a several months away but Aspen, Aspen/Pitkin County airport will close Sunday April 4th,2027 at 1100pm through Friday November 19th,2027. EGE will remain a great alternative airport.

No critical weather days are in effect through Friday. No geomagnetic storms are forecast too.

CONUS severe weather outlook – a relatively quiet period is expected with only marginal risks through Thursday. No severe weather is expected on Friday.

Tropical weather outlook – typhoon Dolphin, 500 miles East of Kadena AFB remains in a favorable upper air environment. It is expected to weaken quickly in 48 hours as it continues to head in a general WNW direction. The GFS model appears to be the outlier while the other models, including the AI models are in much better agreement with landfall South of Shanghai around 09z Sunday. Atlantic basin remains very quiet.

Europe outlook – yellow warnings continue through 21z today for portions of Northern Scotland for slow moving heavy showers and thunderstorms. On Thursday a general WSW flow continues across the continent with the normal thunderstorms over the higher terrain of the Alps associated with daytime heating. Little change is expected on Friday with surface high pressure prevailing from the UK to Poland.

Canadian smoke model forecast– thickest concentrations will remain from Southern BC to Eastern OR and portions of central CA through Friday.
