Good Friday Morning!
Several presidential TFR’S are in effect for this weekend at MMU and CDW. Some approaches into TEB and EWR may be affected too. Please check the FAA’S TFR web page for further details. KSGU, St George UT, will be closed until August 2nd as the only runway remains closed. LFRH, Lorient, France will be completed closed from August 24th until August 28th due to runway works. Notam B3382/26 applies. Very busy day in Europe with the number of flights approaching 39,000. High delays in Greece, no surprise here. Presidential TFR’s might be in effect Tuesday/Wednesday next week in SOCAL and the Las Vegas area.
No critical weather days are in effect through Sunday. A G2 geomagnetic storm is forecast for Sunday.
CONUS severe weather outlook – slight risk exists for later on today through this evening across the Ozarks and the Mid MS valley region. On Saturday this region shifts East from Central KY to extreme Northern AL.
Tropical weather outlook – Super typhoon Dolphin, 320 miles West of Wake Island remains in a favorable environment and continues to the WNW at 09 knots. It is expected to go below super typhoon status in 48 hours with a slow weakening thereafter. Long range models remain in fairly good agreement that this system will be a high impact event later on next week for flights transiting the region between Taiwan and Southern Japan. An eventual landfall is likely South of Shanghai, China, perhaps in 8-9 days from now. More details on this will be provided early next week.
Europe outlook – for today, estofex is forecasting at least a level 2 alert for severe thunderstorms for much of France to Northern Italy to Western Poland for all types of severe weather through this evening. Expect fairly good coverage of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon from Eastern Poland to much of Italy to Eastern Spain in association with a weak cold front and a very weak upper level trough. Less activity is expected on Sunday with the primary areas of thunderstorm coverage from Italy to the Alps.
