Aviation Weather June 12, 2026

Good Friday Morning!

Looking at a very busy day in the European airspace today – at least 35,000 flights expected.  Reminder that several US and Canadian airports have strict ppr/slot requirements during the world cup. Kansas City airports are now on the list for PPRS during some of the match days. Check notams carefully for TEB early next week for morning runway closures.

Critical weather days/space Weather alerts – no critical weather days are expected through the weekend. A g2, moderate geomagnetic storm is forecast for Saturday.

CONUS severe weather outlook – Saturday looks to be the most likely day for a significant severe weather outbreak with an enhanced risk from Eastern KS to Western IL with the potential for large to very large hail and strong damaging winds. A narrow corridor of severe weather is possible in the mid-Atlantic region on Sunday afternoon into the evening hours.

Tropical weather outlook – surface low pressure has formed over the Southern Bay of Campeche and has a very low chance of developing over the next seven days due to unfavorable upper level conditions.

Europe outlook – on Sunday, a fairly deep area of low pressure (989mb) will be located in the vicinity of Stockholm, Sweden, with a weak front extending from the low to Northern Germany with a few showers along the front. Surface high pressure over Switzerland will ridge into much of France and the UK with an upper-level ridge in place from Iceland to Italy while the cold upper-level low remains over the Baltic Sea. On Monday the upper-level low will remain parked over the Northern Baltic Sea while surface and upper-level ridging will prevail from Italy to the UK.

North Atlantic Jet stream – on mid-day Sunday a zonal flow will dominate from the Denver area to New England to just west of Ireland with very light winds expected North of 52N. Expect little change on Monday with the stationary upper-level low midway between Ireland and Labrador.
