Aviation Weather November 2, 2026

Good Monday Morning!

Just a reminder that runway 03L/21R will be closed at LGAV, Athens, Greece from 11/04 until 12/18. This will leave Athens on a single runway operation, thus expect delays. Naples, Italy, LIRN, will remain closed until 11/22 due to the runway 06/24 closure. Runway 22L remains closed at MDW, Chicago, Midway, through 11/13. Delays could ensue when gusty SW winds are present.

No critical weather days are in effect through Wednesday. Space weather remains quiet through Wednesday also.

CONUS severe weather outlook – today looks to be the most active for the next seven days. A slight risk exists from the Kansas City area to South Central TX in association with a fairly strong cold front. An enhanced risk is forecast from the OKC area to near ICT.

Tropical weather outlook – Typhoon IN-FA, 135 miles South of Iwo To will be of no concern as it passes well to the East of Japan later on this week. Tropical Cyclone Murasu, 650 miles SE of Kolkota, India, will make landfall within the next six hours well to the North of Nellore, India as a Cat 1 cyclone, then will dissipate rapidly.

Europe outlook – very unusual pattern setting up over the continent for the next several days. On Tuesday, an extremely strong upper level ridge will be present from Western Finland to Western Ireland while a couple of weaker upper level lows will be located over Northern Spain and Albania. Significant shower activity is expected on Tuesday from Western Turkey to Albania. On Wednesday the upper level ridge and strong surface high pressure over the North Sea will continue to provide a broad Easterly flow over the continent with a few showers expected over Southern France and also over Turkey. Very little overall change is expected on Thursday.

North Atlantic jet stream outlook – a non-typical pattern will be present on Wednesday. A broad upper-level trough will be located from Western Greenland to just West of the Azores along with the ridge over the North Sea will make for fairly good winds for the West bound flights. East bound flights will have light tail winds unfortunately.
