A temporary PPR program will be in effect from GA flights from 09/08 to 09/11 at Dallas Love Field (DAL) due to the midterm Republican National Convention. Official TFR likely to be issued early next week. BGGH, Nuuk, Greenland will be closed to GA traffic until 09/04 due to a military exercise. BGSF, further North is currently experiencing a jet A1 fuel shortage also.
A critical weather day continues until 00z tonight to support excessive rainfall and the flood emergency to the NE of the greater Houston area this morning. Rainfall rates associated with the remains of very slow-moving Edouard have been averaging 2-3 inches/hour. No geomagnetic storms are forecast through Friday.
CONUS severe weather outlook – main focus today will be from Eastern MI to the Mid-Atlantic states including portions of Southern ON too and also for portions of MT. On Thursday this area will move slightly East from the upper Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic states once again. Unfortunately, the timing might not be the best as traffic numbers will be high over this region as we start the Labor Day weekend rush.
Tropical weather outlook – as has been the case for the last several days there is plenty of activity in the tropical Pacific however no significant impacts are expected to any land masses. Atlantic remains quiet.
Europe outlook – on Thursday, deep low pressure, 300 miles south of BIKF and a series of fronts through the North Sea to the Southern UK will help instigate fairly good coverage of showers over NE Europe and also over portions of Ireland and Northern Ireland. High pressure will prevail over much of Central and Southern Europe. On Friday, the low will be centered midway between Scotland and Iceland with a cold front extending from the low to Copenhagen to Southern England. Expect showers along the front, with only very isolated low topped thunderstorms anticipated. Expect an increase in thunderstorm activity in Western Spain on Saturday afternoon with the approach of a weak upper-level low and trough.
North Atlantic jet stream outlook – flow is more or less zonal on Friday, however an upper-level trough east of Newfoundland alters the pattern somewhat. Peak velocities are 125 knots to the West of Ireland.
