Good Friday Morning!

Presidential TFR will be in effect today from 1815 local until 2001 local at MMU airport. On Labor Day, no GA operations will be allowed at MMU from 1745 local until 1930 local. Expect increased holiday traffic at ASE/JAC/BZN/SUN this weekend. Fuel situation has been resolved at NFFN airport. United nations Special Security Event will take place from 09/20 to 09/26. Also, expect a VIP movement in the NYC area on 09/11.

Fuel shortage at BGSF/KANGERLUSSUAQ is now over and the notam has been cancelled. Just a remainder too, that BGGH/NUUK remains closed to GA flights until 09/20. Provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and the Northwest Territories have officially ended time changes and adopted a single time zone factor. A critical weather day might be needed later on this weekend to support tropical operations in Hawaii. No geomagnetic storms are forecast through Sunday.

CONUS severe weather outlook – slight risks exist today from Southern MI to extreme Northern NC with damaging wind gusts the primary threats. On Saturday the primary threat will be from Eastern KY to NC where once again damaging wind gusts appear to be the primary threat.

Tropical weather outlook – West Pacific and the Atlantic basins remain quiet for the most part. The triplets, Marie, Karina, and Lowell are keeping the Eastern Pacific basins very active. Most concern is CAT 3 hurricane Lowell, soon to be category 4 storm which is located 600 miles South of Lihue, Hawaii moving West at 9 mph. It may affect the most Westerly islands of Hawaii later on Monday into early Tuesday. Fortunately, the latest guidance is showing a slight West Ward shift which is certainly good news. I have included an image on a broad scale from the operational GFS model.

Europe outlook – at 12z Sunday, deep low pressure will be located 300 miles SSE of BIKF with a cold front extending from the low through Western Ireland with a few showers along the front. Meanwhile high pressure will prevail over much of the continent along with an upper-level ridge from Southern France to the North Sea. On Monday the deep low (970mb) will be located 400 miles NW of Belfast with the cold front through the Eastern North Sea to NW France. Westerly flow and high pressure will prevail over much of the Central and Southern part of the continent. Widespread thunderstorms are not expected through Labor Day.

North Atlantic jet stream outlook – multiple upper-level lows, South of Iceland and another one near PEI will help support a more or less zonal flow on Sunday with the primary jet from TEB to 50N/20W to Scotland. This pattern will most likely continue on Monday.
