Holiday operations challenges in the Caribbean and Latin America
The good news is that there are no new challenges to operating in the Caribbean and Latin America over the Holidays.
The bad news is all the previous challenges from past years are still there.
Overnight parking is limited with some airports already issuing NOTAMs restricting parking. For arrivals, many airports require PPR’s (Prior Permission Required) over the holiday period. And as always, expect services to be stretched to capacity, so order your catering early and tanker fuel to avoid fueling delays or fuel shortages.
Hotel availability, price, and payment are always challenging. Rates are high during the holidays, and hotel bookings are almost always non-refundable with full payment due upon booking.
If possible, avoid routing southbound through Jacksonville and Miami Centers (especially on the weekends). Instead, use the offshore deepwater routes, and always file early.
Avoid high volume Mexico airports Cancun (MMUN) and Los Cabos (MMSD), using Tulum (MMTL) and Cabo San Lucas (MMSL) instead.
