Athens International Airport (LGAV) will be implementing a slot program for the Summer 2025 (S25) season. Expect flight operations to Athens to be more difficult than ever during this period. It is highly recommended to keep schedule changes to a minimum to help mitigate last

minute challenges and delays.

Effective Dates: March 30, 2025 (0001 UTC) – October 25, 2025 (2359 UTC)

• Slot coordination will be mandatory for all aircraft exceeding 5,700 kg MTOW.

Slot & PPR Application Procedures

• Slot requests: Can be submitted 7 days prior to the day of operation.
  • Ground time limits:
  • Up to 120 minutes: Slot coordination required, but no PPR needed.
  • Over 120 minutes: Requires PPR, granted only 24 hours before operation.
• For last-minute requests (24 hours or same-day operations):
  • PPR approval is required from airport authorities before slot application.
  • PPR requests are managed by airport authorities, not the slot coordinator.

Recommended reposition airports for Athens/LGAV are Thessaloniki/LGTS, Chania/LGSA or Samos/LGSM, which all operate on a 24/7 basis.

Parking will be subject to PPR/slot availability during the time of application and day of operation.

For LGSM, only a PPR is needed.

For LGSA, an additional landing permit will be required unless the operator has an AOC, as the airport is half-military.

If an operator would prefer to reposition to an airport outside of Greece, Dubrovnik/LDDU is also a great option.
